Munich, between Bavarian tradition and urban softness 🍺🌿

Munich is often associated with beer, folk costumes and Oktoberfest. But beyond the clichés, it reveals itself as a peaceful city, where it's good to walk, sit on a terrace or explore the parks. Everything is within easy reach on foot, by bike or by public transport, perfect for a slow, car-free holiday.

The city center is centered around Marienplatz, dominated by the Neues Rathaus, the neo-Gothic town hall whose carillon attracts visitors several times a day. A few minutes' walk away, the Frauenkirche and its two towers offer a good landmark, as do the little streets around Viktualienmarkt, an open-air market where you can enjoy local nibbles: pretzels, cheeses, fresh apple juice or hot takeaway dishes.

Munich takes its time. And you can feel it in its parks, starting with the Englischer Garten, one of Europe's largest city parks. Here, you'll meet cyclists, readers lying on the grass, surfers on the Eisbach wave, or families sitting in a biergarten in the shade of chestnut trees. Closer to the center, the Hofgarten and the banks of the Isar also offer quiet breaks without leaving the city.

🎨 When it comes to culture, Munich is home to some renowned museums: the Pinakothek der Moderne, theAlte Pinakothek and the Brandhorst Museum, all within easy reach of one another. But the city also loves smaller formats: artisan workshops, photo galleries, and associative spaces where the local creative scene discreetly expresses itself.

🍽️ At the table, Bavarian cuisine is well represented: grilled sausages, knödel (dumplings), obatzda (fresh cheese with paprika), often served with a local beer. For a more contemporary experience, a number of committed restaurants offer vegetarian, organic or short-distance cuisine - such as Gratitude Eatery, Emmi's Kitchen or Bodhi, a vegan beer garden.

🚆 Munich is very well connected by train from Zurich, about 3h30, with regular and comfortable connections. An ideal city for a balanced weekend, between cultural heritage, nature and local cuisine.
